If you’ve been following my Instagram stories for a while, you know that Sunday is my dedicated meal prep day! This week, I whipped up a batch of my roasted balsamic tomato sauce. While I originally intended to pair it with pasta, I quickly discovered it was far more versatile than I imagined.
Today’s post is all about the power of the "one-component" approach. It’s a game-changer for proving that meal prep doesn’t have to mean eating the exact same dish every day. By simply getting creative with how you use a single base, you can transform your entire week’s menu.
Here is how I used this one sauce in three completely different ways:
Breakfast/Brunch: An open-faced toast on multi-seeded sourdough, spread with the tomato sauce and topped with garlicky sautéed mushrooms and fresh spring onions.
Lunch: A comforting bowl of pasta tossed in the sauce, finished with a fresh arugula salad and crunchy salted almonds.
Dinner: A hearty, plant-based meatball sub using the sauce as a rich, savory base.
Honestly, as I was writing this, I realized it would even be perfect as a snack with some crisp carrot or cucumber sticks!
The takeaway? Meal prep doesn’t have to be boring. Once you have a delicious, versatile component in the fridge, the possibilities for new combinations are endless. Have fun with it, experiment, and you might be surprised by how many unique creations you can whip up!
I hope you find this post helpful and inspiring for your own kitchen adventures.
