Matcha latte

It is warm drink weather season and I couldn't be more excited about it! To kick things off, I wanted to share one of my absolute favorite cozy drinks, starting with a classic matcha latte. If you know me, you will know that I rarely drink coffee, so my morning routine will always start with matcha latte or tea.

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon ceremonial matcha
  • 50ml warm water
  • 300ml plant-based milk

Steps:

1.Sift the matcha over a small bowl or your mug.

2.Then 1-2 tablespoons of warm water, not boiling water as it can make your matcha bitter and lose its delicate grassy flavor and whisk vigorously in a zigzag motion with a chasen (bamboo whisk).

3.Once the matcha is dissolved into a smooth paste, go ahead and add the remaining water and continue whisking until a frothy layer forms on the surface.

4.Warm up your milk of choice, then pour it into a mug, followed by the matcha tea.

Enjoy!

Notes:

*I used oat milk, but feel to use your favorite. Coconut and matcha is a nice flavor combination or you might prefer soy for a high protein matcha.

*Optionally you can sweeten your matcha with maple or agave syrup.

*In case you don't have a bamboo whisk at home, you can use a hand frother or a frape machine. Or simply shake your matcha and water in a jar.

*Store your matcha powder in the fridge, to help it preserve its freshness and quality.
