I Tried 2 Viral Watermelon Recipes: Are They Actually Worth the Hype? 🍉

Hello friends!

I’ve been seeing so many trending watermelon recipes on my feed lately that I just had to end the season by testing a couple of them out. Let's see what all the hype is about and whether they’re actually worth making! 😋

Recipe 1: 5-Minute Watermelon Ice Cream 🍨 First up on the list is the viral watermelon "scraping" ice cream.

How to make it:

  • Slice a seedless watermelon in half.
  • Scoop out a generous portion from the middle of one half.
  • Cover the watermelon half tightly with cling film and freeze overnight.
  • The next day, remove the cling film and add a couple of tablespoons of vegan fresh cream right into the center (I used 1 tablespoon of cream per scoop of ice cream).
  • Grab a spoon and start scraping the frozen watermelon together with the cream!

The Verdict: After a few minutes of scraping, the texture completely transformed into a rich, creamy soft-serve! I topped mine with homemade granola, cacao nibs, and coconut flakes. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much, but the result was absolutely delicious. 10/10 recommend!

Recipe 2: Watermelon Shaved Ice 🍧 The second recipe is the famous shaved watermelon ice, where you freeze solid watermelon cubes and use a fine microplane or grater to shave them into a fluffy snow.

How to make it:

  • Freeze chunks of seedless watermelon until solid.
  • Carefully shave the frozen watermelon over a bowl using a fine grater.
  • Once you have a nice bowl of "snow," drizzle fresh lime juice over the top and enjoy!

The Verdict: While it was super light and refreshing, the arm workout required to grate enough watermelon just wasn't worth the reward. It was fun to try once, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for a quick treat!

Wrapping Up If you're still craving cold treats, check out the rest of my watermelon recipes!

As I mentioned earlier, I’m taking a short summer break for the rest of August to recharge. I can’t wait to catch up with you all back here in September!

Have a wonderful August!
